REIKI
Reiki as defined by the Oxford English dictionary is:
“A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being”.
It is however, also widely accepted that Reiki can be given and received equally effectively hands-off or via distant healing.
REIKI itself, translates to ~ Universal Life Force Energy
REI – meaning Universal Spirit, and KI – meaning energy or life force, This system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui the early 20th century, who was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching Reiki. It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things.
Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters like myself, who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student. My own pure and traditional Reiki lineage can be traced right back to Usui himself.
It has become very popular over the last few decades and is now widely used in hospitals, nursing homes, health spas, and the corporate world as well as by individuals for "self-healing".

R E I K I . . .
stimulates the body's own ability to heal itself. It helps restore balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit.
It promotes both physical and emotional wellbeing, helping us to cope better with the stresses of life.
When our "Ki" or Life Force Energy is flowing freely, we are generally happier, healthier and more balanced. Reiki helps us to get 'In the Flow'.
What happens during a Reiki Treatment?
Most people find a Reiki session to be a very relaxing experience. As the tension melts away and is replaced by a warm flow of Universal Life Force Energy, blockages are cleared and balance returns both physically and energetically. You are always the focus of the session! You yourself, can help to guide it by setting your intention (relief from tension, less pain, healing a relationship, or just being open to whatever is needed), then allowing the Universe to fulfil that intention for your highest good.
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes (occasionally longer would be needed) with each position held for several minutes.
Which conditions can Reiki help?
It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly but more chronic illness takes longer. In some cases such as terminal illness, there is not enough time for the progress of the disease to be reversed. However, in such cases there is usually great benefit and enhancement of the quality of life giving a sense of peace and acceptance during the time remaining.
It has been found to be really effective in conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, M.E, chronic Insomnia, Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis, conditions where chronic pain is an issue, and has been found to be very helpful when included as a part of palliative care, and for some Reiki can be a great help throughout the grieving process.
While Reiki is widely used to complement conventional medicine it is important to mention that Reiki should not be used as a replacement for conventional medicine.
Reiki therapy is a useful alternative to massage where painful conditions may prevent the manipulation of muscles to relax them, Reiki will enable the body and mind to relax all in one go!
As running water smoothes the jagged edges of a rock until it is small enough to roll away, Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. Reiki restores balance in one's life and greatly reduces stress.
Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complementary. It is suitable for all ages and my personal favourite amongst the therapies I provide, as it was Reiki that found me, right at the very start of my own journey to health.
I am registered as a Master-Teacher Member, of the UK REIKI FEDERATION, the primary recognised professional organisation in the UK, and abide by a strict Codes of Ethics and hold practitioner insurance.

REIKI DRUM
TECHNIQUE

Drumming for healing and meditation is an ancient practice.
In tribal cultures the power of the sound over the body and spirit is well known.
In shamanic medicine drumming, the sound and energy of the drum can be used in many ways, and Shamans in indigenous cultures all over the world have all used drumming for sacred occasions, journeying, and healing.
Research suggests that brain activity can actually be affected by drumming, and there are studies showing how the sounds of a drum can help with illness and emotional trauma.
Combining Reiki and Drumming creates the Reiki Drum Technique, which originated with Michael Arthur Baird, a Reiki Master at the Infinite Light Healing Studies Centre in Sedona, Arizona, U.S.A, and this wonderful healing and training was then brought to the U.K by Sarah Gregg in 2007.
The drumbeat is one of the oldest and most sacred sounds that we can use to access consciousness and healing. When combining Reiki with sound, the Divine wisdom inherent in the Reiki energy merges with the sound waves and creates a beautifully safe and sacred environment for healing to occur.
There have been many scientific research studies conducted to discover the effect sound and drumming have on the human body and psyche. Research has indicated that even drumming for a short period of time can induce an alpha state, brainwaves associated with wellbeing and euphoria.
Drumming helps people express and address emotional issues, aiding in the removal of blockages and producing emotional release.
Studies have linked drumming with positive effects on Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients, clients with Autism and learning difficulties, and recovery addicts and trauma patients.
It's also been shown to help build self-esteem, and significantly reduce stress.
There are effectively three “types” of drum healing that I offer as a practitioner:
Reiki Drum Healing Session
A Reiki Drum Healing Session generally lasts for a shorter period of time than a normal Reiki session. The practitioner gently drums over the body of the client and stops when intuitively guided to do so. Just as Reiki is limitless Love, the intentions for drumming with Reiki and the healing that can take place from them are limitless as well. The drumming is followed by normal hands-on Reiki to help further integrate the healing which has begun through the powerful rhythms of the drum.
Reiki Drum Mental/Emotional Reprogramming
Reiki Drum Mental/Emotional Reprogramming is a way of treating negative conscious mind habits. The technique can be used to overcome bad habits, or to focus the mind on achieving a particular goal in the most empowering way. Drumming facilitates the energetic shift necessary to positively affect both the conscious and subconscious mind. The client focuses their mind on the issue in question whilst the practitioner drums gently over their body. After a period of time the practitioner incorporates normal hands-on Reiki to integrate the healing.
Reiki Drum Journey
The Reiki Drum Journey is a technique to facilitate altered consciousness for the client to access information for change in any area of their life. Journeying is a cross-cultural healing method that has been practiced by shamanic healers throughout the ages. A Reiki drum journey can help you connect spiritually to another point in time or space, or an aspect of your consciousness for the purpose of finding answers, resolving issues, or positively impacting a situation. Journey allows you, the client, to connect with your deep inner wisdom and knowledge. This technique can be exceptionally empowering and healing on all levels. The practitioner incorporates normal hands-on Reiki to integrate the healing.
Therapeutic Effects of Reiki Drumming
Drumming reminds our body of its ideal vibratory rate, which is in harmony with the pulse of the earth and the Universal flow of creation. Reiki combined with the rhythm of the drum helps to identify and remove energy blockages, reduce stress and strengthen the nervous system, creating a deep sense of emotional well-being. It can improve focus, clarity, learning and memory, and help to unlock the creativity within.
Reiki drumming has both preventative and therapeutic benefits and is a purifying process.
Reiki drumming affects the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies simultaneously, helping to bring them into harmony while raising the vibratory rate to levels which may allow the body to accelerate its innate healing abilities.
I am so excited to share The Reiki Drum Technique with you!
